Funding from a Chase Arts grant promoting art in New York Public Schools allowed Paul Alt to collaborate with the students, teachers, and administration of CIS 82 in the design of a program focusing on using environment as a tool for "holistic learning". Paul Alt worked with Principal Larry Schriebman and Professor Mary McKay of the Columbia University School of Social Work. 6th, 7th, and 8th graders completed essays, were presented with slides of architecture, and invited to produce a sanctuary concept for their school.
