To continue the important mission of Camp American Legion into the 21st century a Healing Lodge has been commissioned, the only such healing facility to be proposed in the country in a rural landscape. The users of the Healing Lodge are multifaceted with the intent of serving Wisconsin Veterans and their families, the Wisconsin National Guard, and the United States Military Reserve. The architecture along with the stunning nature is to act as a “tool for healing” for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and Major Depression(MD). In Addition it will build resilience, bonding between the brethren, bonding between veterans and families, patriotism, and formulating a mission to serve the community. The project site is located within the forest on the shore of Lake Tomahawk of Camp Wisconsin Legion. The main complex is comprised of 17,000 sq. ft. with two additional pavilions.
