Chicago’s Lakeshore Drive acts as an artery connecting the North and Southside of the city. Consequently, the road tends to act as a barrier between the city and Lake Michigan. To remedy the situation, the City of Chicago commissioned the construction of pedestrian underpasses that granted more access to the lake front. Under AECOM, Mr. Alt led the drawings for the design of five bridges/underpasses connecting Lake Michigan and Jackson Park. The 150 foot underpass features places for art by local artists and University of Chicago students.
